Myth and the Black Dog (WIFN)
Dog... Wolf, whatever. There are tales of when walking alone at night, a monstrous, gigantic black dog will walk along side you breathing an icy cold breath.
The Brits also use the black dog as another word for depression. In the film the Last Minute, the main character always talked about the black dog (time, failure) snapping at his heels.
