BBK Ch.02 page 07 process

(Bottom in blue) This is the Starting Sketch or thumbnail done at 11 by 17 inch paper to get the major ideas down; then I scan it and with Clips Studio Paint (CSP) I format the comic frames and add text. (Top image in grey) I fade the image and print it out to then draw on top (upper middle in light red pencil) I refine and tighten up the concepts.  (lower middle darkened red pencil) This is what I call the Tight Pencils; all the information that I need to start Inking is down. This are the phases each page goes through to get to the inking phase.

BBK Ch. 02 page 04 sketch and thumbnail versions

 (Sketch version top)

(Thumbnail version middle)

The thumbnail version is what I start with usually in computer, then printed out then drawn on top. In this phase I'm just trying to get my ideas out.

Then in the sketch version is a more complete form based on the thumbnail with comic frames and text to get a clear idea of how the final will look. Then I print this version out then draw on top to refine the drawings.

BBK Comic Chapter 02 Thumbnail and Sketch Group Pages

Beautiful Beast Kiss Chapter 02 Comic pages 11x17.  So after I break down the story and images for the comic in thumbnail form (bottom image in blue); I use Clips Studio Paint for the panels, texts and word balloons. Then I drop the transparency to about 25 percent and print the pages to start the sketch phase (middle image in red) which builds off of the thumbnail version.  The sketch phase is all about refinement. I will be posting some pages next week.

BBK Chapter 02 Key Art part 2

Every comic has to have at least a couple flashy cool images; I really like this one.  From early ruff sketch to tight pencils.
