Phase 2 of Inking Season, where I have been looking to Yoji Shinkawa (Metal Gear Solid artist) as inspiration. I've been trying to break-down of his style, to see if I can learn something.
So, what have I seen of his style: 1) his style is rather loose and structurally sound. 2) there is usually a dark background shape, that helps to define the form of the character. 3) there seem to be layers of ink wash built up with selective dark areas. 4) A use of white-out that looks like texturing.
So, I've been trying to absorb some of these aspects into my studies, while using my character, Lore of the SilverHand as the subject. Super fun!
